1992 Mr Moncton (Head To Toe No Fat!!)

I did a 14 week plan for this show! It was the one that got me hooked on competing. Imagine what it would be like to see yourself with no skin. That is what it felt like as I got closer to the show. I could for the first time in my life see every muscle in my body, and I knew right away that I loved this feeling and it was something that I would continue for the rest of my life. People that have never competed or have never been at a level where you could see your self changing by the day or even by the hour of the day would never understand what it would be like to look in the mirror and say "wow I can't believe that is me." It is an amazing feeling! So back to the show, when I arrived I was very nervous hoping that I would be at my ultimate best and also hoping that what I saw in the mirror earlier that morning would still be there when I got on stage because of how fast you can change, it can go the other way if you mess up with your food. When I got on the stage it was awesome, better then I had hoped, being my first show even though I was shredded I was still hoping it would be enough to win, and it was. I was by far the most shredded in my class and was awarded my First 1st Place Trophy!

1992 Mr.New Brunswick (You can't flex fat!)

6 months after my first win at the Mr. Moncton there it was, my next challenge, a chance to do it again, but this time with a bigger title on the line, and I wanted it bad. For this show I had a good idea of where I needed to be, my goal was to come in even better and be more ripped. So it began, the same diet with the same time frame to do it in, as I got into the plan I soon found out that this show would be no easier to prepare for, it was harder, because I had seen myself with no fat at the last show and I was waking up everyday looking to see my self change, it was slow, well...it felt slow to me, by week 5 into the diet I was feeling ok and I could see small changes but then something happened that I'm sure has happen to a few bodybuilders, I miss counted the weeks and instead of being 7 weeks out it was 9!!! That was a kick in the stomach, I was very upset at myself on how I could let something like this happen. I soon got over it and looked at it like it was more time to get more shredded and now by the time it was 7 weeks out I was looking good, I was seeing some of the things that I didn't see until alot closer to the show the first time so I knew one thing, I was going to be better. Good thing, because this show was going to be a lot more challenging. The weeks crawled for the last few struggling with hunger, cravings, being cranky all the time, but I knew that it wasn't normal to be shredded and have no fat and sugar so low that I thought this must be just as it is when your this close to a show, again here I was but this time its was a bit different, I had some confidence, I had a title under my belt, but I was in for a real surprise as the class that I was going in was an open class, in this class it doesn't matter what your weight it is, its everyone against everyone because of low numbers in the junior classes. The judges put everyone together I was 129lbs, and the heaviest guy in my class was 159lbs. I remember after the weigh in I called my Dad who is my biggest fan and told him what had happened with the class, he was so pissed that I thought he was coming down to have a real good talk to the judges, lol, he didn't, he told me to remember that because they were heavier it didn't mean that they were as ripped, I thought to myself "yea your right, you can't flex fat",lol, the morning of the show came quick back stage we went to start pumping up, juniors were always up first and I was glad because I wanted to do this!! So as we were pumping up the shirts came off and a few of them were ok but the biggest guys were smooth, I could hardly hold back my smile, lol I knew right then this was going to go my way, and it did, not even a call out, just straight 1-2-3!

1994 2 Shows 1 Journey...The End of the New Beginning!!

For this show I took 2 years off from the last, I wanted my last show as junior to be the Atlantics. It was in P.E.I. I set a 14 week plan for this, to finish as the best in Atlantic Canada as a junior would be incredible and that was my goal with more time under my belt and 2 years of hard core training I felt that I had a great chance to win, it never changes with every show starting was always very tough, food prep, no more extras on my plate and measuring everything to the letter, I have to admit that my knowledge was not great I only knew what worked for me and I knew that my body would be shredded if I followed it the way I did the last two shows, so the push was on for this show I did even more cardio and pushed even harder than the last two, the thought of not winning on my last junior year was on my mind 24-7 there was just no way I was going to let this happen, just like the times before my body changed back to my competition suit as I called it,,lol,,and to pump myself up even more there was a show 2 weeks before hand it was the Mr.Moncton and it was going to be the last year that they would hold this show, I had bought my tickets to go and watch and see if I could spot competitors that might be in the Atlantics, it seemed like a good idea, then my dad being my mentor said "why don't you go into this show and then the Atlantics two weeks later"-first thought, peeking, bringing your body to it's ultimate best 2x in 2 weeks would be tough and one show would have to be the one that I peeked for, I soon made the choice to compete at the Moncton’s then do the Atlantics 2 weeks later, I did not change a thing for the Moncton show, basically I showed up on that day like any other Saturday just shrinking my water a little and there I was ready to go and when I looked around there was some hallow faces, and me not at my peek was again nervous that the out come would be different than I wanted. Back stage we go to pump up, I could tell I was not at my best, but I was very tight, but still holding some weight, it was enough though to win my class, then there I was at the overall for the Mr.Moncton me and the heavy and then came the smile, when I seen the heavy he was far from top shape and I knew even before we hit the stage that I had him, it was now thinking back, an incredible way to go into the Atlantic with an overall title under my belt 2 weeks before. From then to the Atlantics, I dropped 7 more pounds and was inside out, I was disgusting, Henderson Thorn was the guest poser that year and said to me "You man, your the most ripped guy in the show!" That was awesome I wanted to get a tape recorder to play that back,,lol,,again like the NB show 2 years ago it was an open class me being the lightest at 131lbs and the heaviest 169, but I was so shredded that you could see my spine. Into the line up we went, I could tell by the reaction of the crowd that I was gross, VERY gross, lol at this point I was feeling very confident and now with 2 first places and an overall, I was someone in the sport that competitors watched for, known for 2 things, being shredded and winning, and this is just what happened at this show I was the Overall Junior Atlantic Canadian Champion with a vote 7-0, I took home my favorite trophy to this day!!

1996 Mr.New Brunswick (A New Beginning!!)

My first year as a senior, this was like a new start, I had an amazing junior run with the shows that I had done and now this was the true test on how I would match up against the best in New Brunswick, I was 22 years old and I had taken 2 years to get ready to go against these guys, I knew I needed much more size and also to keep my level of conditioning to go with it, so in the 2 years I took off I put 20 pounds of muscle on, I felt with this much muscle added to my frame I would be hard to beat. With each show I added an incredible amount of protein and carbs so that I wouldn't lose any of my progress that I had made, there was a major difference for this show, I was out on my own i.e.,,pay for it all my self,,ha ha ,,but I had a plus in my corner, I worked for a company called Winning Ways, we sold Gym wear and protein supplements, it was all good because I got my sups for cost, when I started my diet I was 175lbs very puffy, lol, my goal was to be at the top of the lightweight class, biggest in the class would also give me a greater chance to win, I developed a schedule that was flawless at 5:30am meal1, then gym, meal 2. 8am then sleep till 12pm, meal 3. then meal 4. 2:30pm then work for 3:30pm meal 5. supper 6pm, meal 6.at 9pm then home for sleep, everyday for 14 weeks, eat sleep and train and fit work in-between, lol, my whole body looked different with this much more muscle I couldn't wait to see the end result. So there it was the last week before the show and I had taken a week of my holidays to go to Moncton to stay with my dad and my brother and it just so happened the show was also in Moncton so it worked out great, so then came the day before the show, the weigh in, this show was huge there was alot of competitors and I felt very good with how everything turned out, ripped is how I was going in, I was 150lbs that night and by morning I carbed up another 6 pounds, so I was extremely full and lots of veins, lol, now the waiting game, back stage I have this rule find a spot and don't move, focus on what is about to take place, go through my pump up in mind before I do it and picture what the crowd will see when I come out, this really helps confidence and avoids the "I'm lost feeling" or "where do I pump up" or "where is my t-shirt", lol, (Mike Kats), so then I hear in the back ground "lightweights start pumping up" like a robot I'm up and I'm getting ready, down for push ups then dumbbell curls then side laterals then upright rows, dumbbell rows, with in 6 mins I'm super pumped and can't wait to peel the shirt off and have a look, I usually will wait to the last one, but this year I was first to disrobe and it was like looking at a stranger big full and hard, then it's show time--on stage they call out the mandatory poses as we go through them I'm squeezing so hard that I could throw up but the look on face says "its all good!" then the routine and the crowd exploded with cheers, the end results was 7-0 vote and it was stamped into the books, I was the light weight Mr.New Brunswick 1996!!

1998 Mr. Atlantic Canada-Ultimate Journey

Can it be done? Can a light weight win an overall title? My goal in every show was to win my class and anything else is what I called "icing on the cake",,but that was the question I had as I was starting my diet for this show. I took 1997 as year to grow, get big, and strong. I knew that the Atlantics would be my next show and I needed to be harder than the NB show in 96 much harder so that there would be no question if and when I made it to the Overall. E=R, Effort=Results, if I do more, I will get more, that was my attitude from the get go, on day 1. of my plan I was full blast, none of this save some for tomorrow, 7 days a week that was my goal, training everyday. Monday Arms/Cardio, Tuesday Quads/Cardio/Abs. Wednesday Shoulders/Cardio Thursday Back/Cardio. Friday Hamstrings/Cardio/Abs. Saturday Cardio 60mins. Sunday Chest/Cardio,,that was it, robot mode was in full effect on this journey. I had a friend who loved bodybuilding but never knew how to do it and he had no hope of ever building his body to what he dreamed of, he was at least 100lbs over weight, I gave him hope not to compete but to build his health back to where it should be, I told him his health would take care of his weight and that was his focus, the deal was be at my door everyday 530am and I will train you ,,the deal was made and so was the friendship, I had lots of time and that was good because I had lots of work to do, and time went on and day in and day out training and training pushing my guts out making sure that I was doing as much as I could in the gym leaving no thought of I should of trained harder or did more reps, I was sure that I was training harder then everyone else and my new training partner was melting before my eyes,, he lost 60 pounds of fat in total and was in the best shape of his life, for me I was at a level that I have never seen before, harder, bigger and ready for battle,,when I showed up at the weigh in I noticed that everyone was looking at me as I walked up to the table to get weighed in, I knew that there was a few that knew of me but I had no idea that I was set as the guy to beat in this show,,I felt very proud of the winnings that I had and what that gave me was respect with all the other competitors,,,,show time,,I weighed in at 154lbs, 4 pounds heavier then the last show and at least 10 pounds dryer,,my class this year was huge,,there was good caliber in my class but again back stage I could tell that I had them on size and definition,,and I was already thinking of the overall, and what will take place, where I always find a spot back stage and focus I couldn't tell what everyone else was looking like and that was playing on my mind,,then from the speakers out back "gentle men start pumping up for the overall" ,,shirts off lets go!! like I was getting ready for a fight or something, lol all these guys were good, some better then others but all winners of the night, I could tell this was not going to be as easy as taking my class, some of these guys were as dry as me and lots more muscle and now it came down to the judges, the judges called out the mandatory poses and then they moved us around in different positions, they were moving everyone else around me so I could tell that I was in the running for the win,, Pose down! there we were all of us going at it with the music blasting and the crowd screaming, it seemed like forever before we stopped posing,,then music went down and a hush came over the crowd,,and then they said it "The New Mr. Atlantic Canada is,,,, Saint Johns Mike Griffin!! The Ultimate Ending for the ultimate journey!!

2000 Mr. NewBrunswick "Guns vs. a Tank"

10 weeks to get ready for show? I guess it would come down to how much work that you have to do,,this show I believed help me get back on track, bodybuilding has been something in my life to help keep structure and focus, I'm sharper when I'm dieting and I get things done, for this reason I did this show, I needed to get back at my training and needed a goal and just so happened that this show was in 10 weeks, I had not trained very much the whole year of '99 and I guess for a while I thought that winning the Atlantics was the top for me, and so I had to get back to my roots and find myself, 10weeks was not alot of time and I knew that I could not waste a second on any negative thoughts, part of the incentive also was that the Nationals were coming to Halifax the very next year and this would be the only show that would qualify me, so I love a challenge, "Bring it on!!" At the beginning of this plan I was 180 and very soft, great arms and legs but that was it, more work than any other show and less time but I was confident that I could do it and be better than I ever was I would regain that title that I had won in '96, I knew that this show would bring alot of great names to it because of it being a qualifier for the Nationals and they were coming so close to the Maritimes, there are lots of names that I can think of from back in the day but one name stands out, his name is Bruce Sweeney. I met Bruce way back in the day in Moncton when I trained at the Fitness bank, they called Bruce "The Tank" because of his size, same height as me but 250, Incredible!! 5 weeks in to the diet I had heard a rumor that Bruce was going to the show, with 5 weeks left to the show and being extremely burned out because of the crash dieting I was doing this is what I needed to give me a lift. Early one morning at the "Y" I'm training and out of the corner of my eye I see this huge guy with a hood over his head and I knew from the traps touching his ears that it was Bruce, as I was looking he looked up and smiled, he then ask me how things were, I lied and said "I feel great" lol show no weakness, ha ha,, I knew that in the overall it would be Bruce and I standing toe to toe and that pushed me, if there was anytime that I had to turn it up as high as it could go it would be now, I was going up against a pro as far as I was concerned because he didn't look like anyone that I had ever competed against he looked like the guys in the books, as the show got closer Bruce and I became better friends and both of us were excited for the show, and then there we were, the NB show that year was smaller but the calaber was incredible the best in New Brunswick were there and in every class there was great bodybuilders. In the morning of the show it went fast no real psyching out, everyone was a professional and the comraderie was very good, from the way the prejudging looked I was going to win my class, it was the overall against Bruce that was now my main concern, and that is exactly what had happened, that night I was awarded first place in my division and off to the over all, back stage pumping up for the overall is the best feeling, all the top winners of the night were getting ready for a war, all shirts were off and more veins then highways on a road map and looking around everyone was keeping there head down not looking but looking, lol, no sign of the Tank anywhere, then, I could here from the back, gentlemen line up, and they called us one at a time, we all had friends in the audience, I think I brought half of Saint John to the show, ha ha, the Tank brought the other half, so first up me, the light weight, then welter, then middle, then lightheavy, then the Tank, we were all lined up and still no Tank, then here he comes like a dinosaur, now the heavy is supposed to stand beside the light heavy, Bruce walks past him and all the way down beside me an I'm thinking, holy shit, here he comes!!! Then before the announcer says anything Bruce and I start posing and before we knew it everyone was into a full pose down, I remember it perfectly the announcer said "this is like the WWF" lol ,then he says, gentlemen the judges are going to judge you, then everyone straightened up and we went through the poses with my favorite one first, front double bicep, Bruce looks at me says "this is your pose buddy" a smile came on my face and I hit it, the crowd screaming and the poses went on, we went through them all and every pose I squeezed my hardest and then the overall pose down, I was chasing Bruce all over the stage and he was given it right back to me, then it was said, a vote of 4-3 awarded to the champ of the night the Tank, I was proud even to be able to stand beside him and be compared and there was no hard feelings, to this day I'm happy to say that Bruce and I are best friends just like brothers, and will be forever!

2004 Mr.New Brunswick-(The Come Back)

4 years later... In the time that I had in-between these two shows I met my soul mate, bought a house and got married and also added a beautiful little girl to my family, everything in my life was great except one thing, bodybuilding had taken a back seat to all of my priorities, what got me back in the grove was my good friend Bruce (The Tank),,a few years before this Bruce opened a company called "Simply for Life" and Bruce had asked me to come and work for him I graciously accepted and part of the deal as he said to me was to make sure I got my ass back on stage, lol,,well I never heard that from any of my employers before and this was an incredible chance to make a come back, Bruce told me that I was the best in Canada for my weight class and for me not to waste such great potential, coming from him I new that it must be true, I started my plan in July, the show was in Nov,,and I needed every bit of time, my goal was not just to win my class it was to take the overall, how ever there was a huge hurdle ,,,he was 245lbs on stage a giant of a man his name is Danny Lanteigne ,,just like Bruce he looked pro,,Danny and I became friends after I met Bruce very nice guy,,there was no tension training for the show he would pass messages through Bruce that The KING was Coming,,everytime I heard that I could feel my body temperature rise and felt I should go to the gym, lol,,there was many a night as I sat by myself to think about the show, I thought of what it was going to be like standing beside a giant and what I would look like standing there,,I wanted to be bigger than a light weight and increase my definition, I knew that I needed to build some serious size, so the best thing that could of ever happened did, Bruce and I started training together and it helped,,it made the difference of what I was going to look like at the end of this journey, I'm like a bull in the gym straight in and no fear,,but with Bruce you would have to see him train,,it was so intence that everyone in the gym would stare at us and some of them would ask if he was mad at me or something, lol and what really got me the most was the fact that he counted some numbers 10 x, he would go 1.2.2.2.3.4.4.4.4.4.4.5,,anyways you can see what I'm saying ,,it was crazy some sets with reps over a 100,,blows my mind when I think back,,but it was working not just good but amazing, I had surpassed how good I was and now with 6lbs extra on my frame I looked like a middle weight, that was good because as I said Danny was a super heavy weight,,the work had all been done and now it was time to put it to the test,,the morning of the show was nerve racking 4 years not being on stage is a long time and because of placing so high in every show I felt that I had a reputation to up hold,,but when the night show hit the nerves were gone and I knew that I was 2x as good the show before and much bigger, it was happening just as I planned,,the guys in my class were in shape, but not close to where I was ,,I was inside out no skin on my body just veins and muscle,,there was no call outs and I was on my way to the overall,,when Danny first hit the stage the crowd was in awe in all the years of competing and watching the shows there was never anyone of his size on stage, they were calling it David vs.Goliath ,,and there we were standing side by side,,If I had to say the edge that I had was being supper shredded,,the cuts that I used to have in my ass were now striated I even had veins going through them,,lol, his edge is that I was up to his knee ,,ha ha ,no but he was huge and made me look small,,but as we posed I felt good in every shot not knowing what the judges were thinking I was just giving it everything I had and then the pose down song came on,,I couldn't believe my ears they played Black betty for the overall pose down song this was like a charge of energy that surged into my body, and without even thinking I broke into my posing routine for that song it was awesome, then like two gladiators standing beside each other flexing most musculars it was over,,and the music stopped we hit a few more shots and then I had a flash back of what happened at the NB show 4 years ago as they were saying "this has been one of closest overall pose downs we have ever seen" ,,and it seem like hours before they said it,,,,,Your overall winner of the 2004 Mr.NewBrunswick is,,,,,,,Saint Johns Mike Griffin!!!! I was in shock I couldn't believe it,,I had won,,it was an amazing way to make a come back,,locked in my memory forever!

2006 Mr.Canada-Top of the Ladder

40 weeks....January-September..No Cheats...To be the best I will do the most, I've heard of a few bodybuilders in the pros doing this, but I've never heard of anyone at Provincial level, training this long for one event. For the distance that I was going to do for this show I would have to mark out areas of the journey that would be land marks on where I should be at this time, and so it began. Biggest land mark of the whole training would be my wife having our second little girl 2 weeks before the show, I will get to that, first off get back into shape, some of the same, melt the fat so that I can see all the muscle, first month was slow but sure and by the end of 4 weeks I could tell that I was on my way, during the second month of my training I came into contact with a friend of mine who was the promoter of the Mr. Saint John show and he wanted to know if I would do a guest pose for him, I thought this was great, home town, 12 weeks out from Nationals and this would insure that I was going to be incredible at show time, it was a done deal, it was set for the last week of June perfect, 185lbs is what I weighed at the beginning and I didn't try to drop to fast, just real slow, a pound every other week and no real cardio just strict with food and train everyday, between the NB show and this show what I gained most of was knowledge, I now knew how to read my body by how I looked or how felt and this was awesome and made this diet alot easier, the months rolled on and the shows were getting closer and the guest pose was just around the corner, it was now June and the guest pose was on my mind 24-7, in my mind I knew that I would not just be able to be cut on stage to look impressive because I'm smaller then any other guest poser that has been there I would have to be ripped so that's what I did I got ripped, that morning of the Saint John show during the prejudging was a great feeling I was sitting up front and thinking to my self "I'm the Guest Poser" LOL I'm going to raze the roof off this place, I did the last week of the guest pose just like I would do the Nationals, carb deplete, carb up, shrink water, and there I was pumping up getting to do something on stage that I never had the chance to do before, I first started with push ups and then dumbbell curls and then chin ups, sidelaterials I could feel my shirt getting tight under my jacket "I was getting pumped!! I unzipped my jacket and off came the shirt and everyone there knew I was getting ready for the Nationals and of my friends competing they all wanted to have a look and when the clothes came off it was as if some had stopped time everyone back stage were stopped in motion big smile came from everyones face and they were saying go get them Mike, I did 2 songs one Black Betty by Ram Jam, then Animals by Nickelback, when I came out the crowd exploded talk about a good feeling they were on there feet clapping and I could hear Bruce in background and my dad my brother my wife and my little girl, then back on stage for song two and same thing I'm telling you this was the most amazing moment I ever had on stage as I always say " It was incredible! " Now Nationals, 12 weeks left and 170lbs, sounds doable, for the next 4 weeks my weight was stuck with only 8 weeks to go I was not neverous but very concerned, so Bruce said up the cardio and I did and shrink some carbs then it happened my weight was moving not fast but at least it was moving again, 2 week is out baby Clara was going to be born I remember this morning just like it was yesterday up at 4:30am breakfast then GYM for 5am, Shannon was to be booked in a room for 7am because of high blood pressure the baby was going to be born that morning no matter what, and now the waiting game, all my food made and oatmeal for most of my carbs made it real easy and microwave for my chicken, by shortly after 9 that same morning Clara was born, just as amazing as watching my first daughter being born then it was 3 days later that Shannon and our new baby girl could home safe and sound and back to the show. I had a real hard time getting down the last 10 pounds, very tough, I didn't know how I was going to be able to tear off the last few but Bruce said he had a plan with smile on his face, I'm thinking what plan and how come you won't tell me, I showed up in Saskatoon the Wednesday before the show and I was 157.5lbs still 3.5lbs away from my contest weight, now carb loading was what I was supposed to be doing and carb loading makes you heavier so that wasn't happening. I was on a different plan, Bruce showed up early Thursday morning and gave me a plan for the last few days, first off, sauna sweat it out so after my first day at the sauna I was 155.5lbs and with only 1.5lbs to go I was sure I was going to hit my weight, Friday at 1:30pm was weigh in time, first thing Friday morning I was still too heavy so off to the sauna again. When we showed up, there was a sign saying that the sauna would be turned off in an hour so we had to get to work fast, after an hour they kicked us out and back to the hotel and I jump on my scale still too heavy and only an hour or so left, off to the weigh in, now at national level you can't be over at all not even .1 so we get there and all the judges are up front and all competitors are watching, each class comes up one at a time, light weights up to bat, and we disrobe and up to the scale and I was 154.5, SHIT!! the judge says to me you have 30mins to cut the weight if not you will bumped to the next class, just by luck the Y was across the street and this is where we were doing all the sweating, I'm in the hot box and I'm thinking, how can this be happening with all time I had to get to my weight class and here it is and in this sauna, I found out later that this is what everyone does in order to look bigger in there class, is cut water weight and carb load after to fill up, so back to the show and there I was undressed and lets try this again, with just 1 or 2mins to spare the judge says 154lbs congrats you made it, YES !! I was so happy Bruce's wife Claudine throws me a 1 liter of water and I drank it all in one drink, I was so thirsty I can't tell you how good that water tasted, so back to the room and it was carb loading time it was so good like I was starving, my first meal that day was 5am and it was 3pm or so when I ate my next, oatmeal, apple peanut butter, beef eater steaks, all night. I jumped on the scale I had in my room the next morning and it was 160 full hard and shredded the perfect combo. Back stage...in the morning they put as all in our own rooms, all classes grouped, then from that room its off to the pump up room it looked like a gym, there are 6 of us in the room and it was like who's going to take there shirt off first, well it was me "lets get a pump!" if I was not ready now hats off to guys that were, there was one guy in my class that looked like he was close to my condition, and so when he was pumping up I wanted to be sure I was better I went over and stood beside him just have a look so I could see what the judges were going to see, and he was in to it as well so we didn't have a pose down but we went through a couple of poses and I think he had enough because he walked away first,,lol,,then the line up of all of us, so at Nationals there is no routine in the morning just call outs, so I'm ready and we go out, and the judges move us around and they start they went through them one time we were done!! ha ha ,,I knew that who ever was the winner it couldn't of been close so then the night show,,same thing first call outs and again just once,,then the routine I went through it with out a glitch and it was perfect, now they narrow it down to the top three, and we went out and the call outs started we went through them and I squeezed every muscle with every bit of energy I had left and then pose down,,,same thing it was like a dream here, I was at the top of the ladder at the show that I've been training for all my life and it is coming to an end and then the music turned down and the judges lined us up and they started calling names and then it happened my dream of being Mr.Canada for my weight division had come true. From the time I first I competed to everyshow I had ever done,,I wondered could I be Mr. Canada for my weight division,,and now no more wondering,,I did it!

Steve Griffin place 2nd Men's Light Heavyweight Division Mr. New Brunswick 2008

Steve's first show was in 2001 and he was hooked the first time he did it! When we were young Steve was always lean but had a hard to time putting on the size, well alot has changed since then, Steve now off season is one of the biggest guys in the city, lol, this show was Steve's all time best, we started his diet 27 weeks out and it was the time that made the bigger difference, he hit his best about 3 weeks from the show and I knew he was going to be very tough to beat and he was, with just a few points away from winning his class Steve received 2nd place, taking him self up 2 notches from 4th the year before, I predict that if Steve decides to go to the NB show this fall "2009" he will take his class and possibly the overall, so in short train it up boys,, there is a new Griffin taking over,,Mike

Ray Griffin...(This is Mike's Dad...with Mike's guidance Ray is looking awesome!!!)

Back in the day when I was just starting out in the sport Dad was my greatest inspiration, huge guns and incredible chest, shoulders, legs, back,,,, he had it all but priorities jumped in the way and dad put his bodybuilding and commitment to his health aside and forgot about the feeling of what was like to see himself at the top of his game. Dad had some serious health issues in 2007 and he was told that if he didn't put his health back on the top of his priorities that he might not be around for so long ,,so it began Jan 2. 2008, he signed up with me at SFL and I built a program for him that was flawless, 6 meals a day no sugar and no unwanted fat ,,it started slow but in a few weeks dad was dropping weight and I was starting to see some changes. In Nov 08 Dad and Steve had there pictures done as a land mark to where we were now vs. when we started,,I now see the Dad I remember when I was young,,I'm so proud of him for bringing him self back to his ultimate shape and for giving him self back his health,, since Nov there is even more changes and all of those who say they are to old to bring them self back to there ultimate shape and health here's living proof at 57 ,,back in action!! Mike
I met Katrina in 2006 where she entered her first show, she was good condition but needed to build some muscle to fill out her frame, Nov 2008 is where Katrina hit her best ever with a rock tight body and magazine abs. Katrina now works with me at SFL and is a leader in the sport helping those who wish to compete and improve their quality of life.
