4 years later... In the time that I had in-between these two shows I met my soul mate, bought a house and got married and also added a beautiful little girl to my family, everything in my life was great except one thing, bodybuilding had taken a back seat to all of my priorities, what got me back in the grove was my good friend Bruce (The Tank),,a few years before this Bruce opened a company called "Simply for Life" and Bruce had asked me to come and work for him I graciously accepted and part of the deal as he said to me was to make sure I got my ass back on stage, lol,,well I never heard that from any of my employers before and this was an incredible chance to make a come back, Bruce told me that I was the best in Canada for my weight class and for me not to waste such great potential, coming from him I new that it must be true, I started my plan in July, the show was in Nov,,and I needed every bit of time, my goal was not just to win my class it was to take the overall, how ever there was a huge hurdle ,,,he was 245lbs on stage a giant of a man his name is Danny Lanteigne ,,just like Bruce he looked pro,,Danny and I became friends after I met Bruce very nice guy,,there was no tension training for the show he would pass messages through Bruce that The KING was Coming,,everytime I heard that I could feel my body temperature rise and felt I should go to the gym, lol,,there was many a night as I sat by myself to think about the show, I thought of what it was going to be like standing beside a giant and what I would look like standing there,,I wanted to be bigger than a light weight and increase my definition, I knew that I needed to build some serious size, so the best thing that could of ever happened did, Bruce and I started training together and it helped,,it made the difference of what I was going to look like at the end of this journey, I'm like a bull in the gym straight in and no fear,,but with Bruce you would have to see him train,,it was so intence that everyone in the gym would stare at us and some of them would ask if he was mad at me or something, lol and what really got me the most was the fact that he counted some numbers 10 x, he would go 1.2.2.2.3.4.4.4.4.4.4.5,,anyways you can see what I'm saying ,,it was crazy some sets with reps over a 100,,blows my mind when I think back,,but it was working not just good but amazing, I had surpassed how good I was and now with 6lbs extra on my frame I looked like a middle weight, that was good because as I said Danny was a super heavy weight,,the work had all been done and now it was time to put it to the test,,the morning of the show was nerve racking 4 years not being on stage is a long time and because of placing so high in every show I felt that I had a reputation to up hold,,but when the night show hit the nerves were gone and I knew that I was 2x as good the show before and much bigger, it was happening just as I planned,,the guys in my class were in shape, but not close to where I was ,,I was inside out no skin on my body just veins and muscle,,there was no call outs and I was on my way to the overall,,when Danny first hit the stage the crowd was in awe in all the years of competing and watching the shows there was never anyone of his size on stage, they were calling it David vs.Goliath ,,and there we were standing side by side,,If I had to say the edge that I had was being supper shredded,,the cuts that I used to have in my ass were now striated I even had veins going through them,,lol, his edge is that I was up to his knee ,,ha ha ,no but he was huge and made me look small,,but as we posed I felt good in every shot not knowing what the judges were thinking I was just giving it everything I had and then the pose down song came on,,I couldn't believe my ears they played Black betty for the overall pose down song this was like a charge of energy that surged into my body, and without even thinking I broke into my posing routine for that song it was awesome, then like two gladiators standing beside each other flexing most musculars it was over,,and the music stopped we hit a few more shots and then I had a flash back of what happened at the NB show 4 years ago as they were saying "this has been one of closest overall pose downs we have ever seen" ,,and it seem like hours before they said it,,,,,Your overall winner of the 2004 Mr.NewBrunswick is,,,,,,,Saint Johns Mike Griffin!!!! I was in shock I couldn't believe it,,I had won,,it was an amazing way to make a come back,,locked in my memory forever!
